The sand sprayer is fitted under a motor vehicle to spray sand on ice covered road under all four wheels. The sprayer head is connected by a tube to a sand storage box in the engine compartment. Engine heat dries the sand which is sprayed by a small compressor operated when required from the dashboard controls. The sand sprayer system can be connected to the brake light switch, and the compressor can be operated on actuating the brake pedal. The fine grain dry sand is entrained by the air stream and sprayed in front of individual wheels by the nozzles to ensure stable braking on ice covered road.
