The automatic printer is able to produce any number of prints from the originals contained in a given order, and a process is provided for determining the exposure times. The printer comprises an analysis station determining constant exposure times when the originals exhibit a density outside a density range d1, d2 and exposure times whose logarithms increase linearly between these limits.
