A container comprises a pallet 1 of expanded synthetic material supporting a cardboard base 2, a cardboard lid 4 lined with a layer of expanded synthetic material 8 and, fitting in the base 2 and in the lid 4, a collapsible cardboard band 5 and four walls 7 constituted by panels 9 of expanded synthetic material lined with cardboard 10. The walls 7 are held in place by wedging the two small walls between the two large walls inside the band 5. The constituent parts of the dismantled and collapsed container are located in the base and lid. The pallet 1 may be fixed permanently to the base 2. Preferably, the expanded synthetic material is expanded polystyrene and the cardboard is corrugated. <IMAGE> |
