BEARING SUPPORT FOR A LIFT PUMP

Bearings for the large diameter cylindrical body of a lift pump are disclosed. Each bearing comprises a carriage pivotably mounted on a steel ball for limited pivotal movement. The carriage rotatably supports two roller bearings which contact a wear ring mounted on the cylindrical body and thus support the cylindrical body for rotation. The ability of the carriage and rollers to pivot permits the bearing to selfalign to irregularities in the cylindrical body. Preferably there are two bearings each comprising a carriage and rollers at each end of the cylindrical body. The carriages of each pair of bearings are mutually inclined in opposite senses.
