<p>Photoconductive and radioconductive insulating compositions of desirably low dark conductivity and improved resistance to fatigue include tetragonal lead oxide, a binder of polyvinylacetate, polyvinylformal and/or polyvinylbutyral and a small effective amount of an anhydride capable of inhibiting dark conductivity in the composition, particularly under repeated use. Preferred anhydrides are phthalic and maleic anhydrides in an amount of less than about 4 percent of the weight of lead oxide in the composition. Such compositions can be carried on an electrically conductive support to provide elements that are useful for electrophotographic and electroradiographic imaging.</p> |
