PURPOSE:To enable stable images to be formed by repeatedly performing detection of surface potentials on a recording medium and the output controlling of a high voltage power source and resetting the output of the high voltage power source to the recording medium at the specified value at the required timing. CONSTITUTION:In the electrostatic recorder provided with a high voltage power source of a charging corona discharger which is capable of varying output, a detecting means which detects the surface potentials on a recording medium and a control means which controls the output of the high voltage power source by the output of this detecting means, the detection of the surface potentials by the detecting means and the output controlling of the high voltage power source are repeatedly corrected, wherein, for example, the correction times are made 0 to 4 times according to states 1 thru 4, and in the state 1, the control output current value of the previous time is directly used; in the state 2, the control output current of the previous time is flowed to the photoreceptor and the surface potentials are detected and controlled; and in the states 3 and 4, a reference current is flowed to the photoreceptor and measurement of the surface potentials and controlling of the output current are performed in the first correction. |
