A container closure having a top end wall and a depending peripheral skirt which includes an outwardly projecting land with sealing material disposed on its under surface is positioned on a container entrance mouth which has inclined closure retaining means thereon and an outwardly projecting bead below the retaining means, the closure skirt is deformed against the inclined closure retaining means on the container mouth, a substantially downward pressure is applied against the closure skirt overlying the container bead to press the sealing material in the closure skirt against the container bead, and a lower edge of the closure skirt is turned under the container bead to maintain pressure between the sealing liner and the container bead. |
