Relatively small vertical cylindrical tanks contain each, 1 layer of filter bed material above which runs a diametral horizontal pipe with distribution nozzles and with flanged connections at each end of the pipe externally. A perforated pipe grating or a lower chamber, at the base have similar flanged diametrically opposed connections vertically aligned with the upper pipe. The upper pipe is used as raw liquid input and flushing outlet whilst the base connections are for filtrate outlet and flushing inlet. Simiple method of increasing plant capacity. |
