<p>Substd. o-phenylenediamines are of formulae (I)-(III): (where R0 is -CO. CF2Y; Y is H, Cl, F, CHF2, 1-6C perfluoroalkyl or -(CHZ)n-CH2Z; Z is H or halogen and n is zero or 1; R1 is H, -CO.OY1 (Y is 1-4C alkyl or phenyl), benzoyl, curoyl, naphthoyl or gp. (IV); Z' is halo or NO2, Z" is 1-4c alkyl or alkoxy, p is zero, 1 or 2, q is zero or 1 and p+q is 1 to 3; R2 is R0, R1, 1-8C alkanoyl, 3-4C alkenoyl or alkynoly or 2-4c halo -alkanoyl not contg. F in the alpha-posn.; each R3 is halogen; R4 is NO2; R5 is CF3, CHF2 or CClF2 and is meta to R4; R6 is 1-4C alkylsulphonyl at the 4- or 5-posn. and any R4 gp. is meta to R6; m is zero, 1-4; n is zero or 1 and m+n is 1-4; and where R1 or R2 is H the ring position ortho to NHR1 or NHR2 bears one of R3-6). (I), (II) and (III) are herbicides; and esp. (II), also arachnicides and insecticides.</p> |
