摘要 The device comprises an ultrared transmitter (10) which is arranged in the region of a probe cavity (1) consisting of synthetic, high-molecular weight material, further an ultrared receiver (11), as well as a circuit arrangement for signal processing. The probe cavity (1) is connected by a releasable connection (2), which likewise consists of a synthetic, high-molecular weight material, to a carrier (3) which has a cavity (3a') for leading through a signal cable (20). In the absence of liquid, the ultrared radiation is reflected at the boundary surfaces (1b) of the probe cavity (1), and directed to the ultrared receiver (11), which relays a signal through the cable (20). It can thus be detected whether liquid is present around the boundary surfaces. With increasing immersion of the boundary surfaces (1b) in the event of a rising liquid level, an increasing portion of the radiation exits into the liquid, and the radiation impinging on the receiver (11) becomes correspondingly weaker, resulting in a change in the relayed signal. This can be utilised to check the liquid level, e.g. during a filling operation. <IMAGE>
