<p>The segmental prefabricated foundation blocks, used with submarine pipe lines, are placed on the sea bed from a barge, and serve to transmit pipe loads to the bed whilst providing anchorage and ballast. Each block comprises two complementary precast concrete segments with an elastic or a rigid coupling which permits relative movement. Two reciprocal segments (1, 2) join (8, 9, 10) on the vertical pipe dia. to form a stub column with a pointed head and a circular window (5) for the pipe. An elastic coupling (16) of I or dumbell-section may be provided at a third point, and allows a pincer action by which the segments are parted for pipe insertion. A tie bolt (13) may be inserted at a higher level. An alternative form uses segments which join on a horizontal pipe dia.</p> |
