Process for the preparation of a derivative of 1,2-dithiole of general formula (I), in which one of the symbols X1, X2 and X3 is a hydrogen atom and the two others, which are identical or different, are chosen from hydrogen atoms and the alkyl and alkyloxy radicals containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, by reaction of P2S5 with a pyrazine of general formula (II) in which X1, X2 and X3 have the corresponding definitions.
