The device has a screwless strip clamp whose clamping strip (10) surrounds a flexibly elastic sealing collar (12) and has a recess (14) at one end of the strip. In order to enable simple handling, the other strip end is constructed as a lug (18) which can be passed through the recess (14) and on whose end an approximately radial opposing bearing surface (26) is provided. A clamping device (28) is thus provided which can be lengthened in the circumferential direction of the strip by the application of pressure, is dimensionally stable and stable in position in the lengthened state as a result of the tension force of the clamping strip (10) and is supported on the one hand on the radial opposing bearing surface (26) and on the other hand on one strip end (24). <IMAGE>
