<p>The aq. soln. contg. a ruthenium complex of opt. substd. bipysidyl a phenanthroline also contains at least an electron donor cpd., a metal or metal cpd. hydrogenation catalyst and an electron acceptor cpd. Pref. are (a) as electron acceptor, methyl violet or a Eurapium (iii) cpd. exp. EuCl3; (b) as metal catalyst, Au or Pt esp. in colloidal form; (c) as electron donor, tert. amines, EDTA, or glucose. Pref. Ru complex are Ru (2,2 bipysidyl)3 Cl2; Ru (1,10-phenanthroline)3 Cl2 and Ru(4,7-dimethyl 1,10-phenanthroline)3 Cl2. The aq. soln. is pref. buffered esp. to pH4-5 and the soln. is pref. degassed before irradiation. The process provides a means of storing solar energy.</p> |
