摘要 <p>The self supporting structure for use in aeronautics or as an optical bench has a honeycomb structure which enables a large part to have mechanical strength but with a low weight. Such a structure maintains stability over a wide temperature range. A beam (10) has a honeycomb structure (11) with a lattice covering each of the two end faces of the honeycomb which is mounted perpendicular to the lattice. The honeycomb is manufactured from light alloy or synthetic material. The lattice structure comprises lengthwise strips (12) with cross (13) and diagonal (14) strips. These are manufactured from several layers of carbon fibres covered in polymerised resin. Certain fibres are placed lengthways and others are placed across the lattice. The lattice pieces are attached by gluing.</p>
