A bed frame (32) has four bed posts (33) and a bed cross-bar (34) at both the head and the foot. In order to mobilise the bed, the apparatus is pushed under the bed cross-bar (34) in such a manner that the brace part comes to rest laterally against the bed post (33) at the bottom. After this, the apparatus is pivoted towards the bed cross-bar (34) until the transverse support extension bolt (19) rests against the rear bed post. The apparatus is raised until the bed cross-bar (34) lies in the bearing angles (13, 16). Then the lifting lever is gripped by its handle (22) and swung upwards. When this occurs, the transverse support (3) with the rollers (7, 8) rotates about the bed cross-bar (34). The bed frame (32) is lifted from the floor (30) with the bed posts (33). In order to prevent the return pivoting of the lever (21), the locking clamp (24), resting on the limiting cam (25), is swung into the correct position and pushed over the upper end of the bed post (33). The lifting lever (21) is secured against folding downwards. This simple apparatus makes it possible to design fixed articles, especially beds, to have auxiliary mobility. <IMAGE>
