The electrical instrument has a pointer mounted on a shaft (3) and it has a dial plate which is of double construction. A carrier plate (1) supports a faceplate (2) which has portions (3, 4) bent back and bent to form feet (15, 16). These feet make contact with the carrier plate. The shaft (3) carries a gearwheel (9) meshing with a gear segment (6). The return spring (10) for the pointer shaft is a flat spiral type like a watch spring. Its inner end is a fastened in a groove (20) between two flanges (11) on the shaft. The flanges (11) are formed in one piece with the shaft. Dies (23, 24) are used to compress the flanges (11) onto the end of the spring.
