The foot-mat, esp. for use in motor vehicles is mounted in a recess (1) in the floor, and can be easily cleaned, both underneath and the mat itself. The mat (4) is made pref. of porous, absorbent felt or paper and can be easily removed or changed in the recess (1). Underneath the mat (4) is a mesh for preventing the mat (1) from slipping and for letting through dirt from the mat (4) into the recess through (1). A hole (5) is for emptying the dirt. Discs or cups (2) underneath the trough (1) prevent it from slipping.
