Solids in gas streams are removed by a cyclone with a filter mounted immediately down stream. The filter has a dip pipe which leads back into the cyclone, and forms the internal dip pipe in the cyclone. There is a shut off valve mounted in the clean gas outlet, which allows the gas stream to be shut off and backflush the filter element. The cyclones are mounted inside the fluidised bed with the filters outside. Each bed has several cyclones. For use in fluidised beds esp. reactors e.g. for coal methanisation. At high pressures and flows cyclones are inefficient and the efficiency is improved by adding a filter which is kept clean by the back flush action. |
