PURPOSE:To treat exhaust gases, from a process for forming glass wool with glass fiber sucked and a process for heat forming the wool, at a very low fuel cost by making the gases harmless by catalytic combustion. CONSTITUTION:The inside of suction box 7 is divided into small chamber 16 at the upper course of the running direction of net conveyor 8 and large chamber 17 at the lower course with partition wall 15, and the negative press. in chamber 16 is made higher than that in chamber 17. As a result, more glass wool staples 5 suspended in air is sucked into the higher negative press. part, and thick glass wool layer 9 is formed on conveyor 8. Most of harmful matter and dust suspended in air is sucked into chamber 16 owing to the higher negative press., and exhaust gas contg. them is passed through filter 19 to remove the dust and fed to reaction tower 21 through burner 20 to make the gas harmless by catalytic combustion. On the other hand, exhaust gases of high harmful matter concn. from the inlet and outlet parts of cure oven 10 out of oven exhaust gases are joined with the exhaust gas from chamber 16 on this side of filter 16 and made harmless. Part of the harmless gases is circulated to melting burner 1 and jet burner 4, and the remainder to oven 10. |
