The sliding-clasp fastener has a stiffener to aid manipulation and sale, this being roughly of the fastener width and built up from sheet material, and being detachable from the fastener. It comprises a single strip of sheet material (2) bearing against the front of the fastener (1), and with end portions (3) folded over, acting as surfaces for denoting marks. These bear against and are secured to the fastener. The strip (2) can be of colourless plastic. The end portions can have the marks on their rear faces, which bear against the front of the fastener when folded.
