The inertial safety switch for the automatic hazard warning system for the vehicle has the inertial mass on a pendulum support held in the centre of a housing by springs. An additional mass is mounted parway up the support and is backed by a magnet fitted to the side of the housing to stabilise the switch setting after it has operated. The magnet operates on plates attached to the additional mass. It ensures that the switch remains operating if the vehicle turns over and lands back on its wheels.
