The apparatus for sailing craft mainly comprises a trapeze belt and the boom of an unstayed, fully rotatable, sailing rig. For securing the boom to the belt the rig includes a hook (5) held by an elastic link (2). The hook embodies a helical spring (7) inside a tubular length of shank (6). The load from the boom stretches this spring until, at a limiting load value, a notch (5b) in the back of the hook emerges from the tube, allowing the hook to tilt and disengage. A knurled nut (9) holding the spring permits variation of the limiting load.
