PURPOSE:To prevent clogging of a molten metal discharge nozzle by heating the nozzle by a resistance type electric heating method at the time of producing metal thin strips by pouring molten metal between the cooling rolls which are revolving at high speeds and quenching the same with the rolls. CONSTITUTION:The metal A to be made to a thin strip is put in a melting pipe 1 which is made of heat-resisting material such as quartz, alumina or other and is induction-heated by high frequency heating coils 2, whereby it is melted. This molten metal is spouted between the two cooling rolls 5, 5' which are revolving at high speeds and are then cooled and frozen by the rolls, after which it is taken out as thin-strip form metal. At this time, the melting pipe 1 is fitted to an outer barrel 4 provided with a resistance type electric heating means in the lower part, where the metal is further heated to prevent the molten metal A from freezing in the nozzle 3 and clogging the same, whereby the metal thin strip may be produced continuously. Or spouting the molten metal A through the path 6 provided with the resistance type electric heating means and the the nozzle 3' gives equally good results. |
