1492709 Filter for oil container PUROLATOR FILTER GmbH 26 Feb 1976 [22 March 1975] 7604/76 Heading BIT A filter device for the aeration and deaeration of an oil container comprises a housing 1; a first tubular filter element 2 mounted in the housing for coalscence of oil mist particles entrained in the air during deaeration, the inner face of element 2 being in communication with an interior chamber of the housing; a second tubular filter element 3 mounted concentrically about the first element to define an annular chamber 4 between the elements, the outer face of element 3 being in communication with the atmosphere; an aperture 5 in the housing by which the interior chamber communicates with the oil container; and a one-way valve 7 between annular space 4 and aperture 5, such that during deaeration the valve is closed so that air from the oil container passes from aperture 5 to atmosphere via both filter elements during de-areation the valve is closed so that air from atmosphere passes to aperture 5 via only outer filter element 3, allowing oil droplets collected by the first filter element 2 to return to the oil container. Element 2 may be formed of glass fibre of thickness 3 mm and pore size approximately 0.5Î10<SP>-6</SP>m and element 3 may be formed of pleated paper of pore size 5 to 25Î10<SP>-6</SP> m. |
