Succinimide modified terpolymer is claimed based on ethylene, an alph-olefin and a termonomer. The alpha-olefin is pref. propylene and the termonomer is pref. of formula R6-CH=CH-R8-CH=CH-R7 (where R6 and R7 are H or 1-4 C alkyl and R8 is 1-6C alkylene) or is beta-pinene, dicyclopentadiene, norbornadiene-2,5, vinylcyclohexane, ethylidene-morbornene or tetrahydro-indene. Used as an additive for lubricating oils, giving improved viscosity index and dispersing properties. The modified terpolymer has good stability to shearing. |
