PURPOSE:To allow a gate turn-off to return to its normal operation automatically by controlling the on-off period of time of this switch by controlling a horizontal driver circuit by turning on a diode when an overcurrent flows through the switch. CONSTITUTION:Between the ground and cathode of gate turn-off switch GTOQ2, resistance R2 is connected and a voltage across this resistance is applied to horizontal driver circuit Q1 via diode D1. In normal operation, diode D1 is off and when an overcurrent flows through Q2, diode D1 is turned on to control horizontal driver circuit Q1, thereby controlling the on-off period of Q2. Consequently, the puncture of GTO can be prevented and it can return automatically to its normal operation when no overcurrent flows. |
