The device is for selectively coating the relief surfaces of a stippled wall while at the same time leaving the recessed section intact. The colouring of the relief section is achieved using a large number of small balls whose diameter is larger than that of the hollows in the wall stipple. The balls are manufactured of glass or plastic and apply the covering substance by a painting action. They are immersed in the viscous, slow drying material which is stored in a closed container with a removable lid. A stirrer is incorporated in the container for maintaining the substance in a fluid state.
