PURPOSE:To raise reflectance and contrast and to improve stability, by a method wherein a recording layer is established on a substrate directly or via an under coating layer, and a specific squarilium compound is contained in the recording layer of a recording medium for which a protective layer is provided if necessary. CONSTITUTION:Squarilium represented by the formula (I) is contained in a recording layer. As base materials, glass metal, etc., other than plastic of polyester, acrylic resin, etc., are used, and vapor deposition, CVD method, etc., are used as a forming method of the recording layer. Purpose of the under coating layer are improvement of adhesive property, improvement of preservation stability of a barrier and the recording layer of water, or gas and others, and high molecular substance of ionomer resin, polyamide resin, etc., inorganic compound, metal or semimetal, etc., are used therefor. Purpose of a protective layer are protection of the recording layer from dirt, stain, etc., improvement of preservation stability and reflectance of the recording layer, etc., and materials shown for the under coating layer are used also therefor. |
