Electronic ignition system for vehicle IC engine - has power amplifier Darlington pair associated with Hall effect sensor determining shaft position

The electronic ignition unit for vehicle engine has the coil, distributor and generator circuit within a single unit. It has a two part casing (10) with a horizontal sealing ring junction. The casing is mounted directly over a vertical shaft (16) driven from the cam shaft with the spark plug lead outlets (14) mounted on the upper casing immediately over the shaft. The shaft position is sensed by a Hall effect transducer (35) acting in place of a contact breaker mounted close to a slotted metal ring (32) attached to the shaft head. The coil (15) is mounted to one side of the shaft in the lower half of the casing and is fed from the electronic circuit which is in two separate parts. A power amplifier Darlington pair(51, 42) is mounted below the coil with the input circuit(40) close to the Hall effect sensor.
