1514858 Feeler gauge CONCAST AG 26 July 1976 [28 July 1975] 31132/76 Heading G1M A feeler gauge for investigating a continuous casting mould comprises a measuring head 1, three locating pips 6 on a first side 5 of the head defining a triangle in a plane parallel to the longitudinal axis of the head, a first measuring feeler 9 on the first side and perpendicular to the plane of the triangle, a spring-loaded abutment 8 on a second, opposite side of the head, a second measuring feeler 10' on the second side and coaxial with the first measuring feeler 9, and display means 13, 18 for indicating the relative positions of the measuring feelers. The measuring results from feelers 9', 10' are transmitted to a unit 13 which causes lamps 14, 15, 16 to be lit according to whether the mould width sensed by the feelers is above, within, or below a tolerance range. Digital display unit 18 may display the deviation of the width from a reference value. In a modification, Fig. 3, feelers 9', 10' are combined. Feeler 9' is arranged along the median perpendicular 35 of one side of the triangle, which is right triangle, and its output signal is transmitted to display unit 37 and optionally to unit 18. Alternatively a separate feeler may be provided along perpendicular 35. Side 1 carries a further measuring feeler 25' connected to display unit 27 and optionally to unit 18. A third side 28 of the measuring head carries locating pips 29, 29' and a measuring feeler 32' connected to display unit 34 and optional to unit 18, a spring-loaded abutment 31 being provided on the fourth side.
