In a preferred form, a chrome plated brass adjusting nut 3 of a turnbuckle is rotatably secured to a stainless steel sleeve portion 4 as described. The ridges may have Whitworth, Buttress Acme or Unified section, and may be formed by machining, casting or stamping, but preferably are formed by roll forming with the nut formed initially larger in diameter than the sleeve before subsequent radial compressing in a press tool to rotabably engage with the sleeve member. |
