<p>Ag halide emulsions, in which the Ag halides consists of >=90 mol. % AgCl and have rhombic dodecahedron form, are prepd. by pptn. and opt. physical ripening in the presence of a hydrophilic protective colloid (I). Novelty consists in carrying out Ag halide pptn. in the presence of divalent Cd ions and free NH3 at pAg value 7.4-7.7 and pH 7-7.8. The emulsions are used in the prodn. of photographic material layers. Rhombic dodecahedron form is achieved without adding crystal growth-influencing substances, which might reduce emulsion sensitivity.</p> |
