<p>Thetensioning mechanism is for a typewriter ribbon, which can be used once only. The ribbon is indexed from a storage spool onto a coiling one. The storage spool has a brake disc with which a spring-loaded lever is in frictional contact. The friction resistance can be adjusted according to the tension. A further lever (79) acts against a free end (29) of the brake lever, and pivots under the action of a control bearing against the outermost coil on the coiling (9) or storage (7) spool, so as to give even tension in the ribbon as it travels between the spools.</p> |
