On window or door openings in walls, or similar, the device for preventing insects from entering comprises a flexible net, held so that it can be wound up on a roller, with a torsion spring fitted. There is a press element (17) aligned parallel to the roller (6). This swivels about the axis of rotation (19) of the roller to cause the net (7), withdrawn from the roller, to be pressed with a sealing effect against a window frame component (1) or other abutment, over full net width in an area adjacent to the roller. The activating device (10) for this can be a draw cord, pref. fixable in one or more positions between the end positions.
