The number N of intermediate planes of the base material are constructed as superimposed flat grids which are separated by insulating layers and are arranged to form a grid by displacement in each direction of the electrically conductive webs which are spaced apart by @, in such a manner that, proceeding from a first flat grid (a), which is adjacent to an outer plane, the other flat grids (b, c) are arranged successively and in steps in the sequence of increasing distance from the first flat grid in such a manner that one flat grid is displaced with respect to the flat grid preceding it in this sequence by the sum vector <IMAGE> where k designates a geometrical factor and H the number of different directions of the webs S. The invention is used to produce a multi-layer base material which can be used universally, is prefabricated and can hence be obtained from stock. <IMAGE>
