PURPOSE:To prevent an electrode from being easily separated by using a special binder for strongly fixing a porous film containing ZrO2 to the surface of stabilizing ZrO2 tube having its end closed, and by effecting dip in a special solution. CONSTITUTION:Stabilizing ZrO2 is formed into a tubular shape having its one end closed and is used as an O2 concentration detecting element. This surface is coated with a slip, which is prepared by adding 5 to 30% of an aqueous set resin prepared by dissolving polyurethane into dimethyl foraldehyde to the body having the same component as the material of the stabilizing ZrO2, in a thickness of 50 to 300 microns. Then, the element is dipped in the water, in which a Zr salt and a salt of the stabilizing agent to be used in the stabilizing ZrO2 such as YCl3 are dissolved at the same mole ratio as that between the Zr and the stabilizing agent in the material of the stabilizing ZrO2, and then is dried and sintered so that a porous thin film is formed on the surface of the element. After that, the surface is formed with an electrode. |
