Solar cell combination covered with glass-fibre-fabric-binder plies - whose fibre:binder ratio is closely controlled to ensure same heat expansion as cell material

Coated solar cell assembly is covered by layers that have about the same coefft. of thermal expansion as the assembly itself. The covering layers pref. comprise a glass-fibre-reinforced binder with the glass-fibre ply made of criss-crossing glass-fibres. The ratio of glass-fibres: binder is pref. calculated to ensure that the heat-expansion coefft. is equal to that of the cell assembly. The covering layer is pref. itself covered by a UV-absorbent PVF film. Solar cell assembly may be based on conventional Si-material but close control of glass-fibre: binder ratio of covering layers minimises risk of delamination caused in prior articles, by thermal stresses.
