The coil is intended for a transformer, a choke etc. It is formed from a strip conductor and at least one insulating intermediate layer to be adhered to the conductor. The two components are wound together. Prior to coiling a self-curing, two-component adhesive, free to any solvent, is applied to the strip conductor and/or the intermediate layer. The adhesive is preferably applied to both sides of the conductor or the intermediate layer. If the conductor or the intermediate layer are unwound from a storage reel, the adhesive is applied into the wedge-shaped gap formed between the conductor and the intermediate layer. In this manner the additional heat treatment of the coil for curing of a resinous binder is avoided.
