Glass furnace observation opening - has radiant heat protector with rotating disc and wedge slots moving past observation opening

In front of an operating opening is arranged a rotating and driven disc with at least one slot which moves past the observation opening. The opening is a radial slot in the disc. This slot projects from the centre point of the disc to the edge of the disc in the shape of a wedge. The max. width of this slot is pref. 5 mm. The disc pref. has a dia. of 400 mm, and is rotated at a speed of 25 revs/sec. The protector ensures effective reduction of the radiant heat emerging from the operating opening. Continuous observation of the melt in the furnace is also possible.
