The long-stroke damper ram acts as a hydraulic support for lifts, having a guide head mounted on the top of the cylinder head to seal and guide the piston. The guide head is detachably secured to the cylinder barrel by clamping devices extending in the axial direction and spaced round the periphery. The guide head (1) fits by means of an axial spigot (41) or via an intermediate piece in the cylinder barrel (9) or in a flange fitted to the latter. The clamping devices (12) are accommodated in supporting bodies (10) on the head and mating ones (11) on the barrel, the sets of bodies on head and barrel being clear of each other.
