A horizontal fixing for a weighing arm mounted on associated fixed scale pans by means of a main support edge is designed to be absolutely free of play. An elastic plate fixing element (7) is fixed at one end (8) to the base (1, 11) and at the other end (9) to the arm (5). The element is essentially horizontal in the region of the line of action of the main edge (4). The fixing element is a spring tempered plate with cut-out sections designed to produce desired flexing lines, in partic. along the line of action of the main support edge and near the base mounting point.
