The operating method for a dishwasher esp. is used in the drying section of the operating programme. The method uses a rinsing container at the base of which is made from thermo-plastic material and a pipe heating element which forms an electric heating unit located above the container floor. The heating can only be switched on if there is sufficient liquid in the rinsing container that the bottom of the container covered by the heating unit is below the level of the liquid. This protects the plastic bottom of the container from overheating.
