<p>Protective plastics or rubber capping for a screw-thread-ended metal pipe has several axially extending deformable ribs or similar linear projections arranged at intervals about its inner circumference. The ribs are shorter than the capping. They are deformed as they are screwed onto the end of the pipe. Their edges subtend, at least in that sector facing the end of the pipe, an angle w.r.t. axis of the pipe, approaching the screw thread of the latter. The claimed article may be made of vulcanised rubber or a thermoplastics e.g. polystyrene, a polyethylene or a polyamide.</p> |
