Metered molten metal pouring - from tundish on load cells with stopper and pressure-tight pouring space

A metered casting device for molten metal uses a tundish which is divided by a partition with a siphon into an open charging space and a closed pressure-tight pouring space. The latter is connected to an adjustable gas pressure source and its nozzle has an automatically controlled stopper. A level pickup scans the bath level in the charging space. An inductive heater keeps the pouring space and its nozzle hot. Load cells continuously check the weight of the tundish and its contents. The casting process can be continuous and need not be stopped if the molten bath has to be topped up. The pouring rate can be readily adjusted.
