The safety roof hook (1) for the suspension of ladders has a rod-shaped central part (2). At one end, it has a lug (3) which is bent off approximately at right angles. A suspension bow (6), which is approximately in the form of an arc of a circle and is bent off in the opposite direction to the lug, is fitted at the other end of the safety roof hook. In order to permit the safe suspension of spring closures of safety cables, the invention proposes that the suspension bow (6) have, at a distance from its free end, a bent portion (4) which projects outwards with respect to the circle arc. <IMAGE>
