1521076 Vehicle sliding roof mechanisms KAROSSERIEWERKE WEINSBERG GmbH 7 Oct 1975 [7 Oct 1974] 41022/75 Heading B7B In a sliding roof assembly a cable 12 is used for transmitting movement to a roof cover 5 from an open position displaced rearwardly of the roof opening to an intermediate position aligned beneath the roof opening and into a fully closed position in which the cover occupies the roof opening. As shown the cover 5 is moved from a position under a fixed part of the roof to the intermediate position by means of a cable 12 passing along a duet 17 and connected with a slide 19 which moves in a guide rail 13. The slide 19 has a finger 15 which moves in a section 21 of a guide link attached to the rear edge of a roof cover 5. When cover 5 reaches the intermediate position the finger 15 enters a second section 22 of the guide link which is in line with the path of movement of the finger, thus ceasing to transmit any longitudinal force on the cover. This final movement of the cable is used for actuating a lifting device for raising the cover into the fully closed position. As the cover 5 reaches the intermediate position levers 27 pivoted thereto engage pins 28 mounted on the ends of thrust bars 26 which pivot the levers as a result of their transverse movement applied by a crank disc 25 rotated from the cable 12 via an eccentric pin 30 on the disc 25.
