<p>PURPOSE:After vegetables are cooled while moved in a water tank for cooling by a belt conveyor, they are stored at low temperatures, thus permitting the preservation for long periods of time. CONSTITUTION:Vegetables, which are preferably washed with water shower, are sent into a water tank for cooling that is provided with a belt conveyor and kept to lower than 10 deg.C, preferably 0-5 deg.C. When the vegetables are lighter than water, they are held down with the conveyor and passed under the water, whereas when they are heavier than water, the belt conveyor is set near the bottom of the tank and bears the vegetables. The vegetables taken out of the tank are drained and, when desired, wrapped together with an oxygen absorbent, air-tightly sealed and preserved at low temperatures.</p> |
