PURPOSE:To make high-precision geometric detection possible with no measurement error due to a measurement ring by fixing a random reference point on the outer circumference of the ring and then by generating a geometric signal only when the reference point in contact with the outer circumference of a strip 6. CONSTITUTION:Axis 8 is rotatably supported and arranged in the direction of the width of a strip in running. Several rings 11, coming in contact with the surface of strip 6 at their outer circumferences, rotate together with axis 8 in one. Rings 11 mounted on axis 8 via cylindrical springs 20 detect the thickness of strip 6 by the flexion of each sprint 20. By convex part 32 provided to axis 8, a geometric signal is generated only at the reference point on the ring outer cirumference, high-precision geometric detection can be carried out under no disturbance such as eccentricity in axis or ring. |
