A power tool for driving screws, nails or the like. It comprises a housing supporting a drive motor and including a rod for driving the screw, nail or the like into a workpiece. A guide is connected to the housing and a block is displaceably mounted in the guide for receiving a screw or the like fastener and aligning it below the driver rod. A contact member, which in use co-operates with a surface of the workpiece into which a screw or nail is to be driven, is mounted on the block in such a manner that it can be adjustably displaced parallel to the axis of the driver rod.
